Today I'm celebrating that song about the bugle boy in Company B!
The song Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy was recorded on this date in 1941. It was introduced by the Andrews Sisters in the 1941 Abbott and Costello film Buck Privates and was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Song. You can watch The Andrews Sisters perform this song in a clip of the movie on YouTube. You can also see a more recent version of it on YouTube sung by the Puppini Sisters. In 1973, Bette Midler recorded the song, taking her version to Top-Ten on the U.S. pop singles chart. A version Boogie Woogie Bakery Boy based on this song was included in an animated short Disney musical film. You can see it performed in a YouTube video by the Cereal Sisters in The Kitchen Kabaret show from Walt Disney's Epcot. (Fast forward to 4:40 to see the segment) I've heard that this song was also the inspiration for Christina Aguilera's song Candyman. A video from YouTube of the song performed by Bette Midler may be viewed below:

That is rather unique -- did you ever think you'd see the song performed by a group of mermaids?
